I do this work because I believe people deserve to feel supported, valued, and connected. As a first-generation college student, Residential Life helped me find my place at LSU, come out of my shell, and see my own potential. Continuing in this work as a student staff member and now as a professional staff member has allowed me to discover my passion for supporting students, building community, and helping others feel the same sense of belonging that shaped my own LSU experience.

Living on campus showed me how much community and support can shape a student’s college experience.  -McKenzie

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

If I didn’t have this job, I would be a:

Baker and own a coffee shop!

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is not to compare myself to people who are running a different race. Everyone’s journey looks different.  That advice has reminded me to focus on my own growth, trust my timing, and celebrate the progress I am making.
